Love

For Americans, the month of February has two major holidays: Valentine’s Day and President’s Day. One doesn’t have to think twice as to which one is the most popular, and the one most of us remember. When you think of love, what comes to mind? May these Bible verses encourage you in relation to true love, biblical love.

God’s Love For Us

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him (1 John 3:1).

By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him (1 John 4:9).

The Believer’s Love For God

“He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him” (John 14:21).

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome (1 John 5:3).

Christ Follower’s Love For Others

34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34, 35).

Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth

(1 John 3:18).

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another (1 John 4:11).

In response to God’s great love for us, we should love Him. And in obedience to His instructions about love, we should love others.
