Worshipped As A Child

Most families cherish and adore babies. Yet, there remains a vast difference between family members considering a baby to be special and strangers traveling great distances in order to render worship and bring gifts.

Event: Magi (wise men) from the east worship the infant Jesus.

Location: Bethlehem (Matthew 2:1).

Time frame: Jesus’ earthly birth.

Background: God provided a great star (Matthew 2:2) for the magi to locate Jesus in order to worship Him.

After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh (Matthew 2:11, NASB). See Isaiah 9:6; Micah 5:2; Matthew 2:1–10, 12; Philippians 2:9–11; Hebrews 1:8.

Something to think about. . .

Jesus’ earthly life fulfills many Old Testament prophecies. Isaiah 49:7 mentions both kings and princes bowing down to the Messiah.
