Life’s Ups and Downs Require Diligent Prayer

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:14-16, NASB).

Sometimes followers of the Lord Jesus make prayer more complicated than it is. Basically, prayer is talking to God. And, in some ways prayer is like speaking to a friend.

As the God-man, Jesus can relate to us. In fact, He knows us better than we know ourselves. The Lord comprehends that at times, life can be tough. He understands what it’s like to be hungry, sleepy, tired, grieved, betrayed and in pain. And, Jesus realizes what it’s like to be tempted. Yet, He overcame temptation by using the Word of God against our main enemy: Satan. Review Matthew 4:1-11 for using Scripture in combatting spiritual warfare.

In living the Christian life there will be times when praying is easy, and on some occasions, it will be difficult. During good times and challenging times, we can be honest with Christ as we pray.

All of us have needs. The greatest Provider of our needs offers us mercy and grace whenever we bring our requests to Him. Instead of turning to Jesus when all else fails, let’s make Him a part of our daily conversations.
