“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of
God, even to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12, 13, NASB).
The Bible informs us of the past. It provides us with hope for the future. It also gives us guidance
and wisdom for this present life on Earth.
A hopeful perspective is presented in the New Testament for Christ-followers since we are children
of God. A few selected verses on this topic are found in The New American Standard Bible include:
- “The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him (Romans 8:16, 17).”
- “See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called o f God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him (1 John 3:1).”
- “By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother” (1 John 3:10).
- “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments (1 John 5:2)
As members of God’s family, let us live up to the high calling set before us. As we live God-honoring lives, let us tell others how they may become a member of the family of God.
