“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers” (Galatians 6:10 NIV).
I enjoy going to our Wednesday evening Prayer Meetings. Yes, I have to start cooking earlier if I don’t want a late dinner. That flows into my snack time! However, attending Prayer Meeting gives me a pulse of what is happening in our church family and our lives.
I receive the weekly Prayer Meeting Notes and it’s a good reminder for me of the various needs of our Church Family and our Church facility. Someone’s AC’s wasn’t working at their home last week. Is this information, prayer item or call to see if I can help in some way? Someone’s moving out or someone is sick. Does the Lord want me to help in some manner? Our Mission Team is raising funds and may need some help in their preparation. Do I just pray for them or does the Lord want me to ask if I can help even though I am not going?
Opportunities abound for us to make both spiritual impact and physical impact on others. When we hear that someone needs a ride, it’s both a physical and spiritual opportunity for ministry. When we hear about help needed in the kitchen or in the children’s ministry, it’s both a physical and spiritual ministry. When our AC went out two weeks ago and our AV Team had technical difficult during last week’s worship time, I come to appreciate even more their important ministry. It’s both a physical and spiritual ministry.
Opportunities abound for us to minister to others this summer. Yes, it will be inconvenient for us to reach out and to help, but that person who receives it can only thank God for you and me. We really don’t know the full physical and or spiritual impact it had on others until it is revealed in heaven.
Are you looking for opportunities to minister to others or are you looking for excuses in avoiding serving others? Let us work together to build each other up, showing that we care for one another by serving one another.
What can you do or what will you do this summer to have a physical or spiritual impact on others? Don’t just avoid the summer heat but let us lift each other up out of the “heat” that he or she may find themselves in. Opportunities knock. Will you answer that call! Let’s make a difference for someone this summer.
