Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. – Hebrew 12:1-2
Have you ever heard of the Red Car Theory? If someone asked, “How many red cars did you see today?” you probably wouldn’t know the answer. But if you were offered $100 for every red car you noticed, you wouldn’t just see them—you would start searching for them. It’s a simple yet powerful concept: once you start paying attention to something, you begin noticing it everywhere. Those cars were always there, but until your focus shifted, your mind filtered them out. The principle isn’t really about cars—it’s about the power of intentional focus.
This principle also applies to other areas of life. If you love someone, you tend to see their good qualities. If you dislike someone, you notice only their flaws. If you run a business, you start spotting opportunities for growth in places you never considered before. If you seek opportunities to share the gospel, you begin to recognize them in everyday conversations.
For Charlie Kirk, his focus was clear: to fight for truth, strengthen the next generation, and live with conviction rooted in faith. Because he set his eyes on God’s calling, opportunities to serve, influence, and lead appeared everywhere—not by coincidence, but by God’s guidance.
Last week, Charlie, the co-founder and leader of Turning Point USA, was assassinated in Utah. Yet even in his death, the conservative movement he helped build is growing stronger than ever, inspiring many to follow in his footsteps and influencing areas never before imagined.
When Charlie was a teenager, he didn’t take the traditional college path. Instead, he founded Turning Point USA with a vision to educate and equip students to embrace free thought and foundational values. At first, the road wasn’t easy. But like the Red Car Theory suggests, once he locked his focus on that mission, his awareness sharpened. Suddenly, connections, supporters, and platforms appeared where before there had only been obstacles. His God-given purpose—pursued with discipline—changed everything.
The Red Car Theory also reflects our walk with God. When we begin looking for His presence, His Word, and His guidance, we start noticing Him everywhere. Jesus said, “Seek and you will find” (Matthew 7:7). Charlie’s faith journey demonstrated this truth in action.
Instead of seeing life as random events, Charlie interpreted his path through the lens of God’s providence. The “red cars” in his life were signs of God’s open doors. His ability to keep pursuing big goals without being consumed by fear came from a focus on God’s sovereignty.
So the question is: what are we focusing on? Fear or faith? Obstacles or opportunities? Self or God’s kingdom?
Charlie Kirk’s story is a reminder that when our gaze is set on God, the world around us begins to confirm His calling in unexpected ways.
