9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9-11).
In the Bible, we find that the Lord Jesus Christ has hundreds of names, titles, and descriptions.
Some names Jesus is called in the Scriptures.
Christ the Lord: Luke 2:10.
10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; 11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Immanuel: Matthew 1:23.
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”
Jesus: Matthew 1:21.
“She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
Jesus Christ: John 1:17.
For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.
Lamb of God: John 1:29.
The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
Lord Jesus Christ: 2 Thessalonians 2:16, 17.
16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, 17 comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.
Messiah: John 1:41.
He found first his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which translated means Christ).
Savior: 1 John 4:14.
We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
Son of God: Galatians 2:20.
I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
The Christ: Matthew 16:16.
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
The Word: John 1:1.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The apostle Peter provides us with profound truth about the glorious Lord Jesus in Acts 4:12.
“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
The Lord Jesus Christ is like no other. During this month of December, as we celebrate His birth, let us tell others about Him.
Bible verses are from The New American Standard Bible (1995).
