“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10
We just returned from our Church Retreat at the Latham Springs Camp and Retreat Center. The theme was “Transitions”, centering on the life transitions that all of us face during our life’s journey here on earth. One of the hopes and prayers was that people would take this opportunity to listen to the voice of the Lord for wisdom, guidance, and hope for the life transition they were facing. For many the Lord answered this prayer and more.
Some of the campers heard the Lord’s voice and made important decisions about how to handle their transitions. Now, they face the daunting task of trusting the Lord and following through with their decision. This is where their faith is challenged, and doubts and fears become constant companions as the Lord enables each of us to do more than we ever thought possible.
How can we face and overcome those doubts and fears? By finding encouragement in God’s Word like Isaiah 41:10. God came home with us from Latham Springs – He is with us. He will strengthen and help us.
Sounds too simple, doesn’t it? But as we walk by faith and not be sight, we’ll see the Lord is true to His promises. The only way to find out is to take the first step, and then the next, and so on.
Camp is over for now, but the journey with the Lord in our transitions is not. Press on. “Do not fear, for I am with you…”.
