STAYING OR GOING

At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out.

They obeyed the Lord’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses”

(Numbers 9:22-23).

“Did you stay home yesterday or go to the Church Picnic?”, if I may ask. Was our decision based on  our feelings and the circumstances? If we see dark rain clouds, our hesitation may be an implied, “No.” We don’t want to get wet or walk in the rain! If we see partially sunshine, we may say, “Ok, let’s take a chance and go.”

The decisions that we make each moment of the day depends on how we feel and how we see our circumstances. We’re the ones who decide whether to go, when and where to go. If it is to our advantage, we’re incline to go. If it is troublesome for us, we may say, “We’ll go, next time.” We’re deciding whether to stay or to go.

In Numbers 9, the Israelites didn’t decide when or where they were going. That decision was relegated to the LORD God by The Cloud by day and the Pillar of Fire by night. The Israelites stayed in that location or moved to the next location as the LORD God directed Moses. They were one cohesive people. No one headed out on their own nor decided to stay behind.

Here’s the thought for us as a church family: The unity of our Church Family is reflected in the support of our pastor and church leaders. Do you believe that our God is working through our pastor, our Church Leaders, and Ministry Leaders?

As a Church Family, we are approaching a major decision in potentially calling a new Senior Pastor.

Your/our presence, participation, and feedback in the coming meetings to our Ministry Leaders, to the Pastoral Search Committee Members, and to the Church Leaders is vital. Let’s not stay home. Let’s be there to show our support to our leaders and demonstrate our support that we care who may be our next Senior Pastor. Can we count on you to be there in our special meetings in April?
