“The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps” – Proverbs 16:9
Many studies have concluded that 67% of strategic planning fails. That’s a staggering number! However,
if that is the normal average, then that number must be a little bit higher in the year 2020. We made
personal goals, vacation plans, church programs and business plans that either have to be drastically
modified or completely cancelled.
At the beginning of the year, we usually make resolution for the year, plan our vacations for the year,
and set personal goals to accomplish. Knowing what had happened last year, how should we make those
plans for this new year?
We know that the LORD knows everything, and we know nothing about our future. Everything can
change in an instance if the LORD is willing. Instead of making plans around our own desire, why don’t
we plan it around God’s desire? Proverbs 16:3 says “Commit your work to the LORD and your plans will
be established”. If we set our vision to please God, and set our plans around that vision, we can be
certain that God will bless those plans.
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year
there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life?
For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord
wills, we will live and do this or that.” – James 4:15
