Seeking God’s Guidance For Life’s Decisions

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind (James 1:5, 6).

Decisions. We make hundreds of them every day. Decisions can be large or small, major or minor. Some decisions only affect us, while some involve and impact others.

God has provided truth principles and guidance in the Bible in order to help us make better decisions, wiser choices. A few of them are listed below.

Psalm 25:12

Who is the man who fears the Lord?
He will instruct him in the way he should choose.

Psalm 37:4

Delight yourself in the Lord;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 119:9

How can a young man keep his way pure?
By keeping it according to Your word.

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.

Proverbs 3:5, 6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.

Proverb 13:20

He who walks with wise men will be wise,
But the companion of fools will suffer harm.

Proverb 15:22

Without consultation, plans are frustrated,
But with many counselors they succeed.

Proverbs 19:20, 21

Listen to counsel and accept discipline,
That you may be wise the rest of your days.
Many plans are in a man’s heart,
But the counsel of the Lord will stand.

Matthew 6:33, 34

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Romans 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

1 Corinthians 15:33

Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”

Philippians 4:6, 7

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 11:6

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

We can use these verses in our Bible study and prayers as we seek to live lives pleasing to the Lord.
