Entertainment

Spring Break is a time for many of us to kick back and recharge. But as Christians, how can we make sure our fun fuels our faith instead of leading us astray?

Think of it like this: we’re citizens of heaven, on a temporary visa here on earth. We are in the world, but not of the world. That means our Spring Break choices should reflect our future destination! Just like King Belshazzar’s wild parties ended with his kingdom crumbling (remember that whole “writing on the wall” thing? Daniel 5), our entertainment shouldn’t lead us down a path of trouble.

God allows us to have entertainment, but there’s a difference between unwinding and using entertainment as an escape hatch from our responsibilities. Similar to King David’s neglect of his duties while his troops were engaged in battle (2 Samuel 11:1-27), it’s important to maintain a healthy balance between leisure and our commitments. Entertainment offers a chance for rest and renewal, but let’s not lose sight of the priorities that truly matter.

The key is finding that sweet spot where our entertainment activities refresh us without becoming an all-consuming obsession. We don’t want to be so zoned out that we miss opportunities to help others or connect with God.

So, this Spring Break, let’s choose entertainment that lifts our spirits and strengthens our walk with Christ. After all, wouldn’t it be awesome to come back from break feeling energized and ready to share the light with the world?
