Let my soul be at rest again

“Let my soul be at rest again, for the Lord has been good to me. He has saved me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. And so I walk in the Lord’s presence as I live here on earth!” – Psalm 116:7-9

It is no mystery that we live very busy lives. There is always another errand to run, another assignment due, something else that needs to be posted, & another email or text message that need to be read & responded to…the list goes on & on.

It is understandable that our mental, emotional, & spiritual batteries are quickly depleted. We need to “rest”. This cry for rest is common to all generations. Sometimes we can achieve a small smidgen of rest by re-evaluating & re-aligning our life’s priorities & purposes with God’s. Suddenly, less becomes better – major things no longer get crowded out by the minor things. Life is simpler & there is more time to “rest”.

How do we decide what the major things are? The answer can be found in the words of this psalm, “9And so I walk in the Lord’s presence as I live here on earth!” Commit each day to the Lord. Be willing to do what He guides you to do thru His word & thru His Spirit according to His purposes. God has been & continues to be good to us. We can trust Him to lead us to accomplish the big things of life that He wants us to do & needs to be done each day.
