My GPS and Light

You are all children of the light and children of the day.

We do not belong to the night or to the darkness” (I Thess. 5:5).

Daylight saving time is almost over. The sun sets earlier and earlier. When I left my home around 7:05 pm for Friday Fellowship, it was almost dark. When I arrived, it was dark. Oh, how I wished it was still Summer so that I can see the roads and street signs better. Driving in the dark is no fun especially for Seniors. Praise God for Google Maps otherwise I would be still driving who knows where last Friday night. An Amber Alert may have been issued for me!

The Apostle Paul writes that we are children of light and children of day. The light doesn’t come from ourselves but from the Holy Spirit who shines the life of Christ through us. We’re not driving aimless in the night or even in the day. The GPS of the Holy Spirit guides us and enables us to remain on the paths of righteousness. If for some reason we don’t turn on the GPS of the Holy Spirit, we may find ourselves in places where we shouldn’t be and in grave danger. Family and friends might wonder, “‘Where are you?’ You were supposed to be here an hour ago and now it’s three hours later!”

Even though I wasn’t sure where I was going last Friday night, I had my cell phone on. Google Map directed me to the Fellowship and back home. All I had to do was to follow the verbal instructions and drive carefully. Don’t leave home or ignore the Holy Spirit. He’s the Google Map and the Light of our life whether during the day hours or the evening hours. He will guide you and show you the path of righteousness. It’s dark outside but we have the Light of the Holy Spirit in us.
