Romans 12:9
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good (NIV)
Love the world? No. Tolerate the world? Maybe. Hate what is evil? No. Just look pass it. Cling to the world’s values? No. Compromise with the world’s values? Maybe. It’s difficult being a Christian in this world. It’s no longer popular to be a Christian. It’s safer to be an “invisible” Christian in our world. It’s easier to adopt the prevalent culture of our time.
Today, we encounter the “Cancel Culture” Movement. The “Cancel Culture” seeks to “cancel” or shame any people group or individuals whom they find objectionable. Will “Cancel Culture” seek to erase Christianity for its objectionable religious history and its extremist belief of Jesus being The Way, The Truth, and The Life? We have been experiencing the scientific objection to the Christian faith, and now, we may soon see the beginning of the cultural objection to the Christian faith.
The Christian faith and Christians are not exempt from the “Cancel Culture” Movement. As Christians, we are called to uphold and refuse to compromise our biblical faith and values. Our attitude is to oppose the philosophies of this world while loving the people under the bondage of Satan. If we accept the “Cancel Culture” Movement that will mean silencing of the gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. Clinging to what is good involves refusing to compromise our beliefs and godly practices.
What evil are you hating? What godly values and actions are you clinging onto? How sincere is your love for one another? Silence or passivity are NOT hallmarks of a Christian. What are you standing for and promoting each and every day of your life?
