“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
Psalms 133:1
Do you sense an air of Oneness in Christ in our Church? Our fellowship is sweet. The comradery and friendship with each other are deep and strong. It’s a joy to come to our Church and see your smiling faces. You’re lingering far after the lunch is over.
I have been in churches when the sanctuary is nearly empty within 15 minutes at the end of the worship service. No, they are not going to the Sunday School Class, but they are heading home! Sadly, the attitude may be, “I came. I sat. I left.” They are missing the right of fellowship among its believers.
God has blessed us with wonderful fellowship and unity. We sit and chat over lunch even when lunch is over. On Friday nights, the Bible Study time is over around 10 pm. I don’t know of anyone leaving right after the Bible Study. There’s sharing and caring for each other. Yes, there are awkward moments for me, but I am learning to engage and bridge a 40 plus year gap with them. Around 11 pm is my limit, but I hear of others staying at times beyond 12 midnight! That a sign of something of our fellowship in Christ Jesus.
Are you enjoying the fellowship at our church? When you and I open our hearts and minds to each other, sharing what the Lord has taught us, what we faced this past week, and what we are facing this coming week, we are blessed and encouraged.
I sat next to a couple this past Sunday. This person shared with me what they have been facing and what they are facing this week. I didn’t know that. I was happy that they could share with me while I listen to them. The Spirit of God reminded me that I should pray for them. We spent a moment in the fellowship of prayer on our lunch table. I like to think that we came, we sat, and yes, we even prayed for each other.
Fellowship is sweeter when we know that others truly care for you and me. I hope no one feels lonely. If you see someone sitting by him or herself, let’s take a moment to sit next to him or her to show our loved and cared for them. Fellowship is more than just being in the same room. It’s our caring for each other. Of the many things that I will remember about this Church, it will be our fellowship. I look forward to seeing your smiling faces on Friday nights or on Sundays.
