In recent days, you may have heard expressed or even wondered yourself why things seem so crazy in 2021. A contemporary adage states: If you’re not worried about what’s going on in today’s world, you’re not informed!
Truly, many things in our lives can be worrisome. A note in the Life Application Study Bible, p. 1659, conveys that worry can:
- Damage one’s health.
- Disrupt productivity.
- Negatively affect the way we treat others.
- Reduce our ability to trust God.
If we’re honest with one another, we’ll admit that, at times, we are not trusting God as we should. The basic cause of worry and anxiety is little faith in God (CSB Study Bible, 1510). Worry is inconsistent with trust in God. When we worry, we doubt God’s sovereignty and goodness (Spirit of the Reformation Study Bible, 1555).
Let’s all embrace Jesus’ truth that even in the midst of the troubles we experience living in the world, we can take courage since He has overcome it. We can trust Him to remain with us no matter what we are going through.
